Incredibly, most enterprise networks, eBanking sites and online communities only require static identity credentials for access to facilities, networks and sensitive information. The enormous increase in computing power makes this type of authentication extremely risky and quickly becoming obsolete. These concerns and the financial impact of data and identity theft are driving the adoption of more advanced identity and access management systems.
The possibilities for enhanced security and convenience are
becoming boundless thanks to the integration of personalized
smart cards and services based on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
with existing IT environments. Organizations can deploy stronger
security in phases, starting with strong user authentication and
then migrating to PKI services such as digital signature,
encryption, rights management, and federated identity systems
for internal and external use. Stay tuned - this is just the
beginning of a new and more secure era, in the new millennium of
pervasive digital networks.

document to be authenticated and guarantees their integrity by analogy
with the written signature on a paper document.
